A new and innovative training course will be held in Young to help community sport volunteers at local or regional levels improve their skills to successfully manage a sports team or squad.
The Team Management Course will be presented by the Sport and Recreation, a division of the Office of Communities.
The course will be held at the Young PCYC, in the Young Sports Stadium at 45 Lachlan Street next Thursday, November 15 from 6pm to 9pm.
Sport and Recreation spokesperson, Bronwyn Colman, said the course would provide practical information and advice about the role of the team manager.
“All team managers want to ensure that everything runs smoothly prior to, during and after the sports season or event,” Ms Colman said.
“This course provides guidance and useful resources on the role and responsibilities of a team manager, the organisational issues they may face and the structures, processes and concerns that are all part of role,” she said.
“I’d encourage any person who is managing a team or is interested in doing so to enrol in this course – it will certainly help make their ‘job’ easier and improve their confidence.”
Team managers who successfully complete the program will be issued with an Accreditation Certificate of Completion.
The Team Management course topics include:
* Role and responsibilities
* Codes of behaviour
* Records, finances, transport and travel.
* Organisational structures/processes.
* Conflict resolution.
The courses cost is $66 per person which includes all course resources and tea and coffee.
